“Samoëns, an ancient town in the Giffre valley….. a monumente historique”

Courses may be held anywhere but the main training centre is an alpine chalet in Samoëns, an ancient town in the Giffre valley at the foot of the Grand Massif. As an officially designated “monument historique” it is a protected, unspoilt French town with famous stonemasonry, bars, restaurants, shops, botanical gardens and a traditional farming community. Surrounded by mountains the vista is spectacular – the weather is hot in summer and snowy in winter. The chalet is fully equipped with pc, wi-fi, white boards and a full audio-visual system. For relaxation there is a log burning stove, a bar, a hot tub, a jet pool, satellite TV, hi-fi and even a PlayStation3!! The old town square  is just a few minutes walk from the chalet. How do I get there?

The nearest airport is Geneva from where we organise your transfer. There are rail connections at nearby Cluses. You can drive to Calais in 9 hours should you wish to combine your CPD with a road trip!!??

How do we get around when we’re there?

The training centre has its very own 12 seater Land Rover, at your disposal. The facilitator will drive it but anyone else who wants to, can! The Landie will take you and all your gear on a giant roof cage to wherever you want to go – the telecabine is 2 minutes away, the river equally close. Chamonix is 40 minutes drive, the Italian border via the Mont Blanc tunnel is even nearer.

Where do we eat?

Breakfast comprises freshly prepared smoothie, porridge, croissants and, if requested, local sausage and eggs on toast. Lunch will usually be in the mountains at one of many rustic restaurants but if your plan that day is a remote one then then a picnic of fruit, ham/cheese baguettes and cake/chocolate will be provided along with drinks. Evening meal will be freshly prepared and served at Deux-Coeurs – any special requests will be taken into consideration. To reflect our proximity to Italy and Switzerland the menu will be appropriately international and guaranteed to fill! Pre dinner ice cold beers and ample wine is included. The in-house bar includes spirits but you will be expected to contribute to replenishments!

What are the sleeping arrangements?

The house has 6 twin bedrooms. There are 4 bathrooms and an extra toilet.  Two of the rooms are ensuite. If you particularly want single occupancy and/or ensuite then please say so – that’s fine but there will be a surcharge – otherwise sharing is encouraged and never seems to be a problem. If any couples prefer double sleeping arrangements then this is easily arranged with prior notice.

Need more indulgence?

If the hot tub, pool, bar and wood burner aren’t enough then the village has spas, pools and tennis courts for those wanting an extra wind down. Massages for the aching can be arranged!
